Cultural Identity

Cha Chann Teng is very popular in HK. It’s literally means “tea restaurant”. The drink is an important role at these establishments. The restaurants focus on fast service and high efficiency. It embodies HK’s rush living style. Especially in rush hour, it’s a lot of people to queue outside the restaurant. A light, weak tea is served to all customers as soon as they sit down. Some customers choose to use this to clean their utensils, but really it’s not for drinking.  It servers a wide range of food including noodle, rice, HK style French toast, and sandwich,ect, And the inventions of drinks like ice tea with lemon, YuangYang, Coca-Cola with lemon, milk tea. This style of restaurant reflected HK cultural.  

Pop Culture

           

             In the United State, pop culture has influenced families, language and the educational system. It made me changed more since I have been in the U.S. especially the people met here from different country. They are very friendly and nice when they greeting each other at the first time. So it made me easy to make a friend as they are have open mind. And I try to wear a latest fashion that I would not normally buy. I have started to learn more about the history of the rock music and pop music that evolved in the U.S. After I took this class I realized more and more culture from different country. American is one of the world’s most ethically and religiously diverse, multicultural nations. Pop culture reflects a lot about a society and its people. It focuses on pop culture music and artist that are developing new trends and forms.  

Reading

The reading of People Like Us is made me think more about the culture is different in one place. This essay is about people like to get together with their same race and culture. They enjoy being around others like themselves. So there has different neighborhood, such as China town, Korean town, etc. We may try all kinds of local foods there. We have more opportunities had to interact with people from racial, cultural, ethic, religious, or social backgrounds from ourselves in America, but it still allows them remain their original culture and traditions. It represents diversity, racial equality and tolerance. So I have learned strong cultural identity can contribute to people’s overall well-being. The American culture just like to the salad bowl. It’s very interesting that still they concern to each other in the big city to create the diverse culture.      

Music

My favorite song is All This Time. The singer is Tiffany Renee Darwish.  She is my favorite artist. She is an American singer and former teen icon and the supporter of gay rights. She is born in 1971. Her singing career is from 1981 until now. This song belong Pop music. I like this type of music. All This Time is love song. This is a good song for you to sing to your sweetheart. It’s so touch. I like it so much. When I was listening I felt like my heart is broken into pieces and no matter how you fixed it. It will never be completed. It’s easy to fall in love with someone but hard to move on. All This Time is the first single from Tiffany’s second album of Hold an old Friend’s Hand. It was a top-ten hit on the Billboard Adult contemporary chart in the UK.

Movie

           The movie of Black Swan is about the New York City ballet company’s director Thomas Leroy, mounted Swan Lake as the company’s production. Nina is New York City ballet company dancer. She dreams of being a prima donna one day. Although she is talented, she is a reserved young woman. When the company opened for a new season, she was chosen to be the lead role of Swan Lake by her director, as she has a childlike personality. Actually, this role requires her to play black and white swans. But her character isn’t perfect to fit the black swan. Then she met another dance competitor named Lily. Lily’s personality made her perfect for the role of the black swan although she isn’t skilled in the technical aspects. She is sensuous, freedom and more passionate. So Nina always worries that Lily would harm her and steal the lead role. Nina wanted to learn the dark side from Lily. They expanded the rivalry and got into a twisted friendship. Lily fought with Nina in the dressing room before the performance as she wanted to take over the performance. Nina was getting into madness and wounded at that moment, but she still insisted on performing. At the end, she did a perfect role of white swan and black swan, so she won a standing ovation, but she died from her wounds. It’s so sad ending and so pity she devote her life in ballet to won all people’s respected.

Food

Referring to the atrial of Custom-made is about the marketing differences all over the world. I am interesting to know how the custom-made is according to customer’s special requirement.  Such as the companies like Cheetos, Domino’s Pizza, and Green Giant Co., They all face certain experience introducing their products to foreign countries.  Taste developers have to change a slight about recipe and formulating new taste to fulfill the international markets. So these three companies already developed their usual recipe to satisfy countries where the taste is not the same.  It made me think more about every country has different culture and taste, if the product succeeds enter into the U.S. market. It doesn’t mean that is world have the same success in a foreign country. Every success story, there have been a lot of mistakes and changed the original style to cater the local customers taste.  This is the best sales strategy to lead the business to be successful. And the fast food business need to team up with local franchisers to tailor each country’s needs has been the perfect way to maintain its worldwide success.

     

TV

             I like to watch the TV show of The Voice. This is a vocal competition show. There have four stages of competition: the blind auditions, the battle rounds, the knockouts and finally, the live performance shows. At the end they can find a new singing talent. I like singing and listening songs. So I watch it every day. This show let me learn more about singing technique. According to every competitor’s performance, the coach gave them valuable opinion about how to improve their skills. Which part they done the best, which part they need to practice more, when they take time to practice, they will have more successful on their singing career. Although some of them lose, they still get more benefit from this experience. I also pay attention on my singing skills and how to do better and better. I may find my favorite songs that I never heard before.  I realized the winner should have perfect voice, master the singing skill just in right, choose the right song and stage performance is very attracted to the auditions.  The coach comments are very useful. It made me so relax and learn more from the show.    

Prezi

We went to visit the Chicago Architecture Foundation and investigated it history. I was impressible in this place. We have interviewed three persons. They shared about their view about this place related to pop culture. This place is located at 224 South Michigan Avenue. There has current exhibition are including Grate Cities, Grate Lakes and Grate Basin. The Chicago Model city was very attracted us. This model help people realize that Chicago is a model city and give a fantastic experience that you have never seen it before. Chicago is very rich in architecture and development cities.
